I've read some conflicting things so I just wanted to clarify what's the latest rule / regulation / law on LEO's purchasing off roster firearms.
I have a potential customer that wants an off roster firearm sent to me for transfer. He's active duty LEO, and said he usually waits the 10 days, if that makes any difference.
Do I as an FFL just need a copy of ID for roster exemption? Or is that what the Letter of Authorization does? If not, what is the letter for, and who does it have to come from?
Additionally, if the letter is a requirement for any part of the process, is there a guideline on the specific wording it needs, or perhaps a template?
Is there anything specific aside from those two that I need to facilitate a LEO off-roster transfer?
Thanks in advance.
