    Yes but it’s not a PPT, it’s a dealer transfer and subject to the transfer fee the dealer wishes to charge.

      How would I go about getting this processed? How do I explain it to the gun shop?

          Call local FFLs and tell them you want to buy a gun from a friend out of state, and you need a California FFl that will recieve it from a private party. When you find one, you friend ships it to them with a zerox copy of their drivers license. They log it into their books, you come in, do the paperwork, wait 10 days, and its yours. Expect to pay $75-125 plus DROS for this.

            A little clarification is needed, I think... You have a friend that wants to gift you his hunting rifle-right?
