Local Firearms License

There's been some confusion in my city in regards to the "Local Firearms License" requirement for the DOJ paperwork.

For starters, the city has already approved my home based business and issued me a business license with my local police department's blessing.

It does not, however, say the words "Valid for the Retail Sale of Firearms", and getting someone to either edit the business license or provide a letter that would satisfy the alternative requirement has been a challenge. While they have no issue with firearms sales being conducted, they're leery about providing a formal endorsement with their concerns being related to liability in the event of a lawsuit.

Would just the business license satisfy the "local firearms license" requirement without having the words "valid for the retail sale of firearms" written on it?

Valid for retail sale of firearms is the only verbiage DOJ accepts.

Sounds like your confusing the buisiness license with local firearms license, they are two seperate iteams

Its a business license or at my other store, they don't issue those in the county but our sheriff does give out a firearms license for $5

Every year I have to get a new letter from the city that says: "The city does not require any form of regulatory license for firearm sales."

It's from the local sheriffs dept. Some palces may be diffrent how they hand out licenses, I dont know, the sheriffs has it listed as pc26700 xxxxxx license, I needed that to get on the CFLC, as far as I remember the only ones wanting a business license was ATF and state wanting the local firearms license, some places may be diffrent I dont know, but I was locked out of DES for letting the local one expire once.

So sounds like one in the same. I have a local business license with the necessary "For Retail Sale of Firearms" verbiage, but no other "local firearms license". DOJ also required that language on my business license, not just ATF.

Sounds like there are exceptions to that.

My mistake then, seems they are only two seprate items for me, sorry if I caused some confusion, I got FFL with city business license but then DOJ told me I had to get another one from local LEO office to get set up with them.
