    Questions about applying for FFL

    Hello all,
I have some questions I need some insight on:

I have my local business license, EIN, and Sales Permit.
I applied for COE too (currently in progress).
I am now applying for FFL.
Anything missing here that I need to apply to?

    COE questions:
-I checked the following business types
    . Wholesaler / Distributor
    . Ammunition Vendor
    . Certified Instructor
    . Firearms Dealer
    . Importer
    . Pawnbroker
    . Store Manager
Were these the right ones to check off?
I checked certified instructor because some FFL's can give out FSC tests, I would like to as well.
Importer - If I am importing guns from other states I thought I would need this checked.
Do any other check marks give off concerns?

    FFL questions:
-I want to manufacture and sell ammo (reloading ammo using some dilon xl's)
    Do transfers and buy/sell firearms.
So best option would be an 07 (since reloading ammo) ? Or can I get an 01 for what I am doing?

-Would the CLEO I give a copy of the application be my County department or my local city?
Business will be located in Tracy CA

    Misc Questions:
-On the Attorney General site it says to get any regulatory business license and then A regulatory or business license that states on its face, "Valid for Retail Sales of Firearms" and endorsed by the signature of the issuing authority
My business license doesn't state that but states "Firearm and Ammunition Sales" under business description and "Firearms Sales" under business type.
It also has no ones signature endorsing it. In fact I don't think I have ever seen a business license with a signature..

Does this suffice? I have attached a pic of it as well.

-FFL application asked if I intended to sell at gunshows conduct internet sales, I checked yes... wrong or right? I don't see why I wouldn't.

-Finally, is a LFL (Local Firearms License) the same as the business license? I saw the Centralized List of Firearms Dealer application asking for this.

That’s a hell of a first post. You or one of your employees will need to be a FSc instructor. A pawn broker license is very specific so look into the state refs before going down that route. You will need a manufacturing license if you are making ammo for sale. Keep in mind you will be responsible for paying and filing FET. Yes the DOJ wants your license to say exact ally that on the face. Every couple years the OCSD would forget to put it on my business license and I would get delayed at renewal till it was fixed. Your CLEO is your local head of law enforcement. Either Sheriff or chief of police.

Manufacturing ammo requires an FFL 06. You’ll need to apply for that.

I would recommend paying an attorney to advise you as to how to proceed and what you'll need.

          - So 07 would be my go to then.

          - ok one more question here: My local police department would be the ones to get that license then? Not the City department that issued my business license? After some further research last night, I saw some people get that additional license from their Police Departments. I guess I should go into some local firearm shop and see if I can spot their permit/license in display.

          - lol I am going in strong. Thanks for the reply.

As a business owner already, I can say that this is the biggest waste of money.

Why? You’re going to want one as an advisor anyway after you start up. You’re gonna make decisions that you won’t be sure about and need to.

Plus, when something gets off, (no fault of your own) getting that lawyers advice and documentation that you did seek legal advice can keep DOJ or ATF off your butt when they see you identified a problem and sought legal guidance to make things right. It’s all about CYA in this business

Type 07-FFL does not allow you to make ammo.

You need to Type 06-FFL in order to legally make ammo & sell the ammo you made and a Type 01-FFL to legally sell CA legal firearms.

The Type 07-FFL allows you to legally make and sell firearms that comply with CA laws.

In order to legally make Title 2 firearms, you will need a Class 2 SOT to go with the Type 07-FFL and, in addition to both of those, in order to legally make CA prohibited weapons, you will need CA DOJ Dangerous Weapons Permits for the different categories of prohibited weapons you want to make.

                  Incorrect.

0303 SOT to tap the lucrative NFA market. The Type 07 FFL costs $150 to apply and $150 to renew every 3 years.
Apply for an 07 and get your 02 SOT once approved. With the SOT you can then have suppressors in your company inventory in CA. You're welcome.

                    When did that change?

I remember early to mid-90s, ATF saying 06-FFL was required even if you had a 07-FFL.
^Worked for a 01-FFL Class 3 SOT with CA DWP for being a prop master, boss was looking at getting 07-FFL to make custom MG props and was told needed to get 06-FFL to make ammo even if we got the 07-FFL.

Sorry, no idea. We've been an 07 since 2011, no 06 needed.
