There is something in / on your background that is causing a person to review your file manually.

You can run your own check to see what is showing up (the dealer should have given you the form). It may be something you can clean up. It also may not be.

There are a lot of things that can flag your file for review.

I'm on day 31 and it finally came back undetermined. Wish I would've known ahead of time my shop won't release it to me despite having a ccw. I hate California.

Delayed status's are at an all time high.

We are experiencing one or two a day. There is no longer any tangential reasoning like "arrested but not charged with a crime, and no disposition recorded". Friday, we received one for an active duty sheriffs deputy. Tuesday we delivered undetermined for two people that hold secret clearance.

DOJ is just not capable of hitting the green button.

We had a customer DROS two firearms as a pawn return on the same 4473. Both went delayed then one went approved a few days later — but the second didn’t.

I called our rep and got a VM that all field reps were transferred to the call center, so called them. Second gun was released a day later.

Something is rotten in Sacamenna.

This is exactly why not releasing to undetermined is a bad policy.

At the end of 30 days and a NICS check, the dealer is clear of liability with that FBI approval.

Absolutely not the situation here; majority of those falling under the erroneous 'delayed/undetermined' game as of late have NO background issue or variable that would give cause for a 'manual' review, and none to find.

10 years ago that may have been the case, even up to 2 years ago - but lately it's a clear and orchestrated obstruction to reduce the number of guns sold, without any explanation.

I have no doubt it's intentional, even if being made to look like the inmocent result of DOJ staff-shortage vs. gun buying volume, which is an unwarranted reason to commit civil-rights violations. A right delayed is a right denied; a right 'undetermined' speaks even louder as to applying abusive power over a civil-right by mere disregard for the same.

Do not conflate causes for prohibited-persons/denial with this nonsensical 'delayed/undetermined' underground gun-control and ambush on gun ownership reduction tool.

It has become clear there is an animosity toward gun owners by the DOJ wilfully abusing their power over the DROS process, that is bleeding out through some strategy or tactic to stall, possibly even intentionally antagonize gun purchase applicants.

I wager this is nothing more than random selection in hopes of maybe catching something in which to point, a task force without goid cause, but the real motive being to backlog so many that they simply don't have time to get to them within the 30-days' window - so your 2nd Amendment civil-rights get 'delayed/undetermined' because the DOJ staff simply don't have the time for you and all that - they've got better things to do.

So you're 'delayed/undetermined' is unwarranted, had no reason for it, and likely an extension of Bonta's small and petty retort against gun owners for recent suits against his office and that of his predecessor, Becerra.

DROS "Delayed" status rarely has anything to do with the purchaser or the FFL involved. Simple things like clerical/data entry errors at DOJ, court records/business license applications or even unpaid parking tickets can affect DROS checks. I've been involved in this business in CA since 1992 and the system simply sucks. Patience pays off. ;-)
