    New FFL questions

Just recently acquired my FFL and am trying to gain as much knowledge as possible.

I have already done a PPT from myself to my Brother in law and it was nerve wrecking because I kept going over the 4473 and DROS making sure I didnt forget anything.

I am getting ready to do a new transfer for an AR stripped lower and have a basic idea of what needs to be filled out. Please correct me if I’m wrong but it will be DROS as a dealer long gun sale. I’ll fill in the buyers info and it will be a receiver only. I assume it Will it be categorized as a semi auto.

With regards to the state tax, the buyer paid tax to palmetto state armory and from what I recall, no ca taxes will be collected from me. Is this correct?

Is there anything else that would need to be completed for this.

With regards to PPT, both parties come in with D/L, complete 4473, give each person a copy. Submit DROS. Take possession of handgun and deliver once DROS is approved. Both parties will be responsible for payment with themselves. It will not be a consignment. With this said, would CA Sales tax need to be collected?

I ask a lot about the sales tax as I have no knowledge of when to collect other than when buyer doesnt pay tax online.

You take possession of the gun first.

You don’t give anyone a copy of 4473, you can give them both a copy of DROS. The DES on top allows you to give copies to the right people. No sales tax on a PPT if it’s not a consignment since you didn’t initiate the sale. Make sure you get seller to sign your copy of DROS
