FFL Expiration

Hi guys, I had a out of state interfamilial transfer done at a local FFL. Dros was initiated late Feb and cleared recently.

During the 10 day waiting period my FFLs license expired. They advised they turned in their renewal but the ATF/DOJ is behind.

Any advice or guidance would be appreciated

Curious, with an expired FFL, how could they legally transfer that gun to another FFL? (Receiving FFL needs a current copy) Plus, why wasn’t an FFL extension letter issued.

I always mark that box just in case.

We don't know if the FFL expired. OP said "my FFL's license expired". Could be COE, Resale, Business, any number of licenses a FFL is required to keep current. I doubt the FFL got real specific with the OP or even if they did, that the OP was taking good notes.

And the OP said "ATF/DOJ is behind". Which is it? DOJ does not issue FFL licenses.

Plus we have seen before some FFLs like to keep it vague or even blame "DROS is down" when they let a COE lapse.

So who knows. Hard to give advice with flimsy info

There should have been an extension letter he could have applied for while waiting for the renewed FFL.

To clarify further he keeps referencing delays from ca doj and that he can’t log in.

No, COE would not show up. If their FFL shows expired in EZ Check that is a big problem.

How is the FFL with the suspended license supposed to complete a CFLC????
