Ruger MK l, ll, lll barrels

Does anyone know of anyone that manufacturers "legal" barrels for the Ruger MK l, ll, lll series pistols?

I'm not sure what you mean by "legal", but Tactical Solutions makes barrels for Ruger mark series pistols.

The barrel assembly on those Ruger pistols is the part that is serialized. I don't know of a source where you can send yours to have rebarreled.

At the factory, I think they use a cold barrel in a hot receiver to take advantage of contraction and expansion. When the gun returns to normal temperature, the barrel is literally locked in the receiver. In other words, you can do a lot of damage to your perfectly good barrel when trying to remove it because it is pretty difficult to heat the receiver and cool the barrel when they are threaded together.

My customer is looking for the BBL and receiver complete. His brother took his apart (he says) and lost the Bbl/receiver. Go figure.

With all the Tactical Solution, etc., barreled receivers that get sold I'm just wondering what happens to all the original Ruger barreled receivers?

They'll need to get it through a private sale from a California resident.

So then he should just start looking for a whole gun via PPT. Or go get a C&R off Gunbroker.

Also, you can't just mix and match uppers and lowers between Mk i,ii,iii,iv

                        Standard and MKI are interchangable

MKII and III are interchangeable (including std grip and 22/45 grip)

MKIV is a whole new animal

I see barrel/receiver sets for the Mk series pistols for sale on gunbroker and other sights fairly often. You're going to run in to roster issues doing it that way though. Roster issues that can be overcome, but don't go in to it blind.

TacSol makes good stuff, and they are perfectly legal here. But there are roster issues.

TacSol advises their barrel assemblies are illegal in CA. All come with threaded barrel ends. They do not make a non-threaded barrel.
