Reputable FFL for PPT between Vallejo & Rocklin (Sac) - also etiquette

    Hi Calgunners,

*Sorry, didn't realize there was an FFL specific forum as I first posted in the general gun discussion subforum.*

I will be purchasing an NIB AR Pistol in the forthcoming weeks and have read up on some unsettling stories of FFLs tampering, shooting, or even damaging firearms during the waiting period. This will be my first time doing a PPT by the way. I do see one member saying UG Imports (Fremont though) is great and has PPT'd several AR pistols in past.

Can anyone recommend any 1st class FFLs that absolutely will not mess with your DROS'd firearm? What are some of the reasonable things you can do that's within reason short of taking photos directly in front of associate? Some people mention placing unique zip-ties through mag well. What about tamper tape on firearm and/or box? I don't want to step past any boundaries and keep it a smooth transfer but the last thing I want is to purchase an expensive firearm only to pick it up shot and/or damaged.

    Thank you in advance!

Put your own lock on it.
Limit politicians to two terms. One in office and one in jail.

Beware of people who are certain they are right. That certainty allows them to justify almost any act in pursuit of their goals. ( Jack campbell , Guardian)

BS! No gun dealer has time or need to shoot a stupid AR pistol or any other firearm brought in for a PPT.

Find a place that will do it between yourselves and do it.

Guns must be accessible and unlocked for DOJ or ATF inspections.

Not true. I had a FFL/Range in Elk Grove that did in fact shoot a handgun that I PPT. This said luckily that place went out of business. In hindsight I should have taken the two mags that I left with it. The clowns behind the counter were dry firing new firearms and acting completely unprofessional. Only reason I did the transfer there was the person I was buying from at the time refuse to drive any further to meet me at the preferred FFL I wanted to use. Thank god that place shut down.

Triple A’s in Vallejo. Not sure about 29 Outdoor Gear. Last time I went in , they seemed stressed and cranky and made it very hard to give them money. Call both and see what they now charge as all prices have gone way up for FFL services. Used to be friendly before the madness.

How exactly do you know this? Did you see them? Some guns get dry fired all the time. It’s how people see if they like the trigger or not. (Minus rimfire guns) It doesn’t hurt them and revolvers handled more gently for obvious reasons. Ha! Customers

Nor Cal Gun Vault in Rocklin - one of the nicest gun stores I've ever been in, and the staff and owner are top notch. Give 'em a call to set up an appointment, and if there are any possible issues with what you're transferring, they will have answers or will get them for you so it's smooth as silk!

Cordelia was good for the one PPT I did there as well.

Stay away from a chain store with the initials SW in Fairfield....

I know it’s not in your area but , I just bought 2 Franklin Ar pistols, a VR80 and many other high valued firearms from my good friend and Ffl Scott Jacobs who runs his business DJ defense out of his home in Livermore Ca he has the best prices on ppt, dros , ammo transfers (purchased online and ppt) in my area . He can also order u hard to find firearms and charges below market value by given u his dealer price . I have been a buying and selling for many years now and I wish I would have found out about him a lot sooner .. All the firearms iv purchased from him have been fresh out of the box he doesn’t even open them until u come by to Dros ur firearm..

Thanks for the heads up 49er. Although the deal fell through, I'll keep your friend's place in mind. Cheers!

                        The Gun Range Sacramento

                        Nor Cal Gun Vault Roseville/Rocklin

Done a few PPTs at both places w no regrets

I've done PPT at ASP Armory (Vacaville) and The Gun Range (Sacramento). Both places were fantastic.
