    DROS Denial Reason

Do you guys ever get the reason why someone was denied DROS when you receive the hard copy denial letter (not just the online acknowledgement)?

Today was the first time DOJ attached a reason. I'm not sure they should have...but didn't know if this was a new thing.. In this scenario the reason was:
    8103 WIC Lifetime Prohibition

I don't think there's any reason I need to know that as an FFL dealer.

I was surprised when I received a notice for the last denial. I haven't in the past. Not sure if there are new people at the DOJ and they are sending them out.

Physical Denials are mailed to corporate HQ and we get them well after we read the online notice. They are identical.

The moment I get a denial I stop trying...If the customer wants to try again it's the customer's money not mine. For all I know the reason is bogus...happened to an H1 customer of mine that was told when he checked with DOJ they thought he was in the country illegally..

Yeah I have received the LEO letter and the Customers mailed copy by mistake before. Never one addressed to me with a reason. That might be a legal issue by sharing customers personal information.

Might be for a couple of reasons they mention the denial reason:
                    1. So the dealer can advise the transferee the reason he/she was denied.
                    2. Shows he/she lied on the DROS and 4473.

There is a bunch of subsections under 8103 W&I Code that would prohibit a firearm transfer.

So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.

                      2. Not sure what I'm supposed to do with this information. I'd suppose they want to give it to the DA as evidence though right?

Maybe it's so if that same person comes into your shop and asks to look at any guns, or ammo you won't unknowingly put a gun or ammo into a felons hands?

Not sure how it would be any different for anyone that receives a deny though. In this instance the person wasn't a felon.

Granted. Not our responsibility, but I would do it as a courtesy with the hopes of a return customer if and when he/she gets things straightened out on their end. Might also be that they would put in a good word to some other prospective customer if they felt they got extra service from us. Just a thought...
