Only sell ammo, C&R, or transfers as Type 3?

Hi there,

Would a Type 3 FFL be sufficient if I want to just sell ammo, C&R firearms(let's suppose I'm not buying boxes of them to sell, just like maybe one or two of a given model to have sell the ones I don't like), and/or only perform online or person to person transfers (like someone wants to buy a gun off gunbroker, and I would just be the guy doing the background check and collecting the state tax and a transfer fee)?

Would I be able to do all, some, or none of the things above?

Absolutely not Ok. At all. You need 01 FFL to do the things you described. 03 is *strictly* for acquiring a personal collection of C&R guns.

So basically, of all the processes/regs that I can skip, it really just enables me to 1. buy C&R firearms and have them shipped to me rather than needing to go through a dealer and 2. buy ammo oand have them shipped to me rather than needing to go through a dealer.

If I want to sell part of my collection, I would still need to go to someone with a 01 license and have them do the person-to-person transfer?

1. No. As of a few years ago, you can no longer get C&R firearms shipped directly to you. They must go through an FFL01.
2. Yes, if you also have a Certificate of Eligibility (~long-term background check paper) from California and the out-of-state vendor is willing to cooperate (Brownells, AIM Surplus, TargetSportsUSA, etc.)

Inside CA:
C&R handgun - PPT via 01FFL.
C&R long gun - PPT via 01FFL or if buyer has 03/COE, he can acquire from you without using 01 and will need to CFARS within 30 days.

I know about the added restriction of 1 in 30 for long guns, and the FFL03/COE exemption, coming in July; what else is coming?
