Buying back my Yugo SKS....CA Compliant...Needs D.O.J. approval?

    Hi All,
I'm buying back a Yugo 59/66 that I sold to a member here 11 years ago. It was purchased by me in California originally. It has the CA compliant muzzle brake on it instead of the illegal grenade launcher. The current owner resides in Georgia. His FFL there says they need to get some kind of approval from CA before they can ship it to my FFL here. Does anyone know what is involved with this procedure? Thanks, c good

shipping to a CA dealer requires a CFLC approval number, totally standard not a big deal. https://cflc.doj.ca.gov/ any dealer who ships to CA knows this. Private sellers shipping directly to a CA FFL do not need this approval.

The gun cannot have a detachable magazine fyi.

Starting 07-01-2008, in order for a FFL to legally ship a firearm to a CA FFL dealer, that FFL must first obtain shipping approval from CA DOJ. [PC 27555]

The seller's GA FFL dealer needs to enroll/register with CA DOJ BOF.

After the enroll/register, they then can utilize the California Firearms Licensee Check System (CFLC) to obtain the Firearms Shipment Verification Approval letter, which they need to include with the firearm.

The current owner can ship direct to your FFL as well if they will accept it.

Yup. Anyone can ship a firearm to an FFL if the FFL will accept it. Seller needs to include a copy of their driver license so that the firearm can be logged in by the receiving FFL.
