I'm a northern CA resident looking at selling a handgun to a person in southern CA. It would need to be shipped. It's on the roster. Can I just ship direct to the receiving FFL or do I need to use an FFL on my end? How do I account for having legally sold this? Thanks for any help.

Shipping a handgun within California

You need to call the receiving FFL to see what their store policy is before you send it. Everyone can be a bit different. Nothing to do with laws just store policy.I'm a northern CA resident looking at selling a handgun to a person in southern CA. It would need to be shipped. It's on the roster. You might want to compare costs. If you ship it direct you can't use USPS which is by far the cheapest way to ship a handgun. A non-FFL has to ship a handgun 2-day UPS or Fed Ex. An FFL can ship USPS. You might find it cheaper to pay a local FFL to ship it for you. You also avoid the issue of some FFLs not accepting shipments from a non-FFL.Comment

Ups ground in California is 2 day. And usually runs $20 with signature. USPS is 2 day priority and is about same price. USPS. An only be shipped by ffl ups can be shipped by private party
