Proof of Residency Pickle

Evening Calgunners,

I'm in a bit of a pickle with providing proof of residency for a firearm transfer.

I was previously in Ventura and went through the process to get my RealID. Fast forward about 6 months and I'm now in Santa Clarita with my ReadID and Car Registration still showing my previous Ventura address. I've tried to go to the DMV but they wouldn't allow me to go in to get a new ID card since it wasn't deemed a "essential issue" as I already had the ReadID and the little brown piece of paper that showed it was updated.

Problem lies in that my roommate is on all the water, power, gas. So to my knowledge I'm screwed as far as proof of residency goes?

Note this is to get some long guns as I know required paperwork varies for handguns.

I'm assuming since my ID and car reg. aren't my current address (even though the two match) that my DROS will get denied? Are there any supplementary documents I could use like a lease agreement or bank statement that would be accepted for a shotgun or rifle transfer?

I can give you a long "legal" answer, but ultimately, ask the FFL you are doing the paperwork at what they will accept.

Fire permit from CDF GOOGLE it and apply that will work as it is from a gov entity

USPS Change of Address. Government Entity can fix your license.

Fishing license or campfire permit. I sent somebody today to get the fish since he would have bought one anyhow this year.

So the what officially would I need to bring in? ID, reg, and campfire permit and/or fishing license? Both needed or one?

I had an FFL 03 (now expired unfortunately) that I used in conjunction to a signed lease/rental agreement that would get accepted, would that be an option as well?

Understood. I appreciate the insight there; I've been moving around quite a bit since finishing up college a few years back so all the address changes haven't made it easy to keep up the hobby. Good to know all there's at least options for proof, thanks UG.

Funny my customer today had an old dros. But, it had his not current current address on it. Lol. I went thru the whole enchilada for options and fishing was best. I even said the old Kemasa line, ham radio operator license. Lol

I've only seen 1 ham license.
