    DROS Cancelation

Notwithstanding all the, "Why would you want to do that?", questions,
can a DROS be cancelled 3 months after being submitted, approved, and a firearm delivered? And, can the associated 4473 be cancelled as well?

I'm looking for technical advise not philosophical opinion..

Never tried but does the DES give you the option to be able to do it? In your scenario of course

It appears that it does. By clicking on CANCEL DROS then entering an arbitrary name, a DROS is displayed and at the bottom of the page is CANCEL.

It appears it can be done "mechanically" but I'm wondering if it would be accepted by the DES.

I'm not talking about a gun reg'd in my name.
Never said anything about destroying the 4473.
          If you'll look at a 4473, read section #27.

You second paragraph has nothing to do with the proposed question.

Best go back and read my question. It's pretty straightforward.

There is no way to cancel a 4473. Once you have delivered the firearm that 4473 is complete with all the info needing to be retained by the dealer. You could log the firearm back into your bound book from that person.

While the DROS may be canceled in DES after Delivery (option available) I don't know what that does to the AFS record. I have canceled DROS that were never delivered but Approved (people didn't show up) months after. However, as noted, I didn't previous click Deliver so I'm confident the backend never logged the firearm over to the customer.

As OC Armory noted you can't cancel a 4473 after fully delivered. Also the "cancel" option in the 4473 is if DOJ cancels, not if you as the dealer decides to cancel. At least that's what my last ATF audit rep told me. ETA: I was using cancel if I canceled and told I was supposed to leave it blank.

That section is if the background check comes back denied, not for you to cancel after delivery. Once transferred, 4473 is permanent.

I just had my first PPT come back denied. I check the box on the 4473, but what do I need to do in DROS to transfer the firearms back to the seller, or do I just give them back since the DROS was denied?

Does the denied buyer need to sign a BOF 110 for me to proceed? I have the NTN number and the seller is cleared.

With an NTN number, you need to have them fill out a 4473 and give them their firearm back.

THANKS!! Still on hold with DOJ for half an hour.

NTN is entered in "NICS or state control number" right?

I enter it in where I would normally place the DROS #, 27b.
