    ffl transfer to simi

ok, heres the deal. i am currently in afghanistan and i have been searching for a very specific model of shotgun for quite sometime. now that im 12000 miles away, ive finally found a dealer that is selling one through gunsamerica.com. so heres my question, how can i legally obtain this firearm? i am not trying to break any laws, nor am i trying to decieve anyone. the shop in new jersey will send it out to california, no problem. and i do have family members who are more than willing to pick it up for me. i just dont want to break any laws in the process, and ive never done an ffl transfer before so im not entirely sure how the whole thing works and what is involved. any help would be much appreciated

What is the model of shotgun that you are looking for? If it passes the "not an AW" test, then have the out-of-state dealer ship it to me and we'll either hold onto it until you come home or (at your instruction), register it to a family member. Hope that makes things easy for you.

You can't go wrong with Fort Courage Armory. I've transferred at least five firearms with them. They are great and you won't deal with a nicer bunch of people!

Tim (FCA) is more willing to fax the copy of his FFL to the FFL you are buying from. Just give him the information he needs like fax number and he could fax it right out.

The only thing missing now is your payment.

Glockwise covered most of it already, but yes, you are correct about the additional form. The out-of-state FFL needs to be signed up for the CFLC program and include the "OK to Ship" letter when he ships your firearm.

                      Snipeshot,

There are two gun shops in Simi Valley (Fort Courage and Bullseye) and then there is that place that sells holsters and guns at MSRP+20% and spreads FUD! I don't go to that place for ANY reason! Stick with the two shops I mentioned or the kitchen table FFL in Simi (a friend of mine) and you won't go wrong. Just stay away from the place with a poor excuse for a cannon in front of it.

Unless the Mossberg pump is something special, you might want to check to see if you can just order it. It might save you some money.

Due to one of the questions on the 4473, it would be best for it to be held for you since the firearm would not actually be for the person who is filling out the paperwork, especially since Tim is willing to hold onto it for you.

Fort Courage Armory is not easy to find unless you know where it is. It is across the street from Jack in the Box, in the back corner, next to the feed store.
