The instructions are actually confusing to me:
If the transferee/buyer is a member of the Armed Forces on active duty, his/her State of residence is the State in which his/her permanent duty station is located. If the service member is acquiring a firearm in a State where his/her permanent duty station is located, but resides in a different State, the transferee/buyer must list both his/her permanent duty station address and residence address. If the transferee/buyer has two States of residence, the transferee/buyer should list his/her current residence address (e.g., if the transferee/buyer is purchasing a firearm while staying at his/her weekend home in State X, list the address in State X).
Does “reside” mean where I am a resident of (AZ)? I think it means where I currently live. So I’m military, stationed in CA, and I “reside” in CA, so do I list my CA home address and station address? It says you list both when you reside in a different state. If it means where I am a resident of, then I guess it makes sense and Id list both addresses, but neither address would be an AZ address.Comment

Fairly simply put. GI Joe resides at 123 Elm Street, Anyplace TX, but is stationed here in CA at 456 Army Barracks Road, Anytown CA. He should put BOTH addresses on the 4473 and the 4473 requires the FFL to see his PCS orders and document it on the 4473. Also GI Joe can choose to present both his DOD ID and his TX ID or just his DOD ID. Simply put thats all there really is to it.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

That's a problem. If I am wrong tell me and I will verify and find out. Chances are though, personally since we are one of the go to ask and answer places we are usually correct in what we tell customers and even other FFLs.
So from what I gather you are an AZ resident stationed here in CA. I mean its possible they needed your AZ for some reason but DOD with PCS should have sufficed for a PPT. It could be that they were just being overly cautious.I did a PPT this weekend and they made me provide my CA vehicle registration, in addition to my orders and mil ID.
2 weeks ago, I did a PPT and they insisted they needed to see my AZ ID. I explained that they didn’t require it the last time I came in, but they didn’t care. PPTs are hard to schedule nowadays so I try to just go with the flow and not make a big deal about things.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)

Not trying to split hairs here, but based off your example, I should provide my military station address and my AZ home of record address? What about the address of the home I own in CA?Fairly simply put. Simply put thats all there really is to it.
I thought the scenario you presented only applied when the military member actually lived in a different state than where they were stationed. For example, you could be stationed in El Centro CA but you live in Yuma, AZ and are an AZ resident.. in this scenario, it would make sense to provide both addresses if you were buying a gun in CA.Comment

Poorly phrased by me. I got busy and half aZZ typed that out. If you live in Ca and use your DOD I’d you should use your Ca address.Interstate Transfers $100 (DROS included with the price)
