Hey guys,
Looking for direction here. I just received my FFL from the ATF after getting my interview. Now I'm about to submit my CA DOJ documents but there is a problem.
My articles of incorporation used my SOC as the EIN because LegalZoom said they ran into a problem with the IRS and the EIN. I faxed in a long form application for the EIN and its been two months (given ETA was 14-21 days), no EIN yet. Called LegalZoom and they said that I could apply online for a new EIN under one of my partners names.
Tried that, but the IRS site says that due to the fact I'll be selling firearms, I can't do the online version and I need to fax in the document I already faxed in. Needless to say, I need the EIN for the seller's permit and the county permit prior to applying with the DOJ. Anyone run into this and figured out what was going on and how to properly obtain an EIN. Full story is we're an S Corp getting a type 07 FFL. All partners have already completed the livescan and applied for the COE. I don't understand why the EIN is the hold up. Everything else has proceeded smoothly. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Matt
