As I've said on prior posts, I'm helping a widow sell her husband's firearms.
She just showed me one of them that I need some advise with. Without getting into too many details, it is not a Colt, but someone has done a bang up job engraving the Colt markings, including the Colt name. From a sales perspective, I think I'm ok declaring that its not really a Colt, but what do I list it as when I enter it in DES as an Acquisition? Or on the DROS for that matter if I sell as a PPT. I think I know the original maker but its mostly an educated guess.
