FFL07 Re-Serial a Gun?

Theoretically, can an FF07 added a new serial number to rifle and register it as a new manufacturer? You would leave all existing roll marks on, you would just add a second set.I've seen Russian AKs that have a second US manufacture serial.

I know if can be done, just looking for some insight on how far you can push that.

Those second serial numbers on imports are applied by importers not 07 FFLs. And they are done that way only because the original serial numbers have non-English characters in them.

There are also extra markings on SBR/SBS/AOW etc after getting ATF approval, and they are even applied by regular Joes.

In both cases the importer name city or NFA manufacturer name + city must also be included.

When the status of a firearm changes, like pistol to rifle or rifle to SBR for example, an 07 is required to engrave their company name, city & state. Typically model number, serial number & caliber are not changed.

Adding another serial number is a CALDOJ thing AFAIK.
