Question about transferring a CZ pistol

Finding an on roster California compliant CZ-75 BD pistol for sale at a reasonable price is extremely difficult these days. The compliant pistols have a separate SKU which is part of the on-roster listing. I have found non-roster pistols for sale on line.

From what I can tell, the only difference between the compliant and non-compliant SKUs is the size of the magazine. So can an out-of-state middleman just remove the magazine and ship the pistol legally into California?

Sku must match if purchased from dealer. Must follow roster. Only exceptions are PPT or exempt persons (i.e.: LEO)

Yes or your receiving FFL can remove the magazine if indeed it is the same firearm. For example:
      SP01 01152
      SP01 91152
      Same gun different mags.
