I am trying to purchase a Remington M51 auto pistol which is 60+ years old as PPT, since this is a C&R can the transfer be done at FFL at seller's location (300 miles away) without a ten day waiting period or must I return to FFL after the ten day period to pick up. The DROS, etc, and safehandling to be done at time of initial transfer. Any options to avoid second return trip? Ship to local FFL for pick up? Thanks for any help, it is all alittle confusing.

you will still have to wait the 10 unless you have a c&r and a coe.

So that I understand the C&R procedure, if someone has a Federal C&R License and a Calif. Cert. of Elig., there is an exemption on the ten day wait if the gun itself is certified as a C&R firearm. Correct?

That does not apply to modern (non-C&R) firearms. Correct?

Both transactions need to go through a 4473 and DROS, Correct?

If you do not have a C&R FFL and COE, you will have to wait 10 days.

So, if you do the PPT at the seller's FFL, you will have to go back after 10 days to pick it up.

However, since it is a C&R handgun, it is exempt from the approved list.
So, the seller can send it to a FFL dealer near you.
However, it would no longer be a PPT and the FFL dealer can charge you more than $35 to do the transfer.

Correct.
If you have a valid C&R FFL and valid COE, then you are exempt from the 10 day wait on C&R firearms.

If you have a valid C&R FFL and valid COE, then you still have to wait 10 days on non-C&R firearms.

However, if you have a valid C&R FFL and valid COE, then you are exempt from the 1 in 30 day handgun wait. This applies to both C&R handguns and non-C&R handguns.
