No First or Middle Name - ever encounter for DROS?

I have a customer who literally has no first or middle name (saw his birth certificate). How would you DROS a firearm to such a person?

He was told by Bass Pro Shops that did his FSC to use "NO NAME" as his first name. Which they in fact did on his FSC card.
DOJ rep has told me not possible, has to get name fixed. I sent her his birth certificate, DL, FSC card, and DMV Reg showing all the discrepancies and the fact that he really has no first or middle name.

All his POR docs have his alias "John" Lastname on it. None of them have a blank first name.

So he has no supporting POR docs that have just his last name or "NO NAME Lastname" on it.

I don't see how you can even keep the right docs for a handgun audit without all the docs matching... Bass Pro can't give him a name of who they talked to which leads me to believe they called the general help line, but I can't confirm that.

Sometimes a birth certificate will read something like "Boy baby Smith", as the hospital never got a name out of the parent(s).

Never heard that 'boy baby' would be taken as a name, so no first name on the record.

People legally change their name. I think "Cher" is one such example..

Airlines use the first name FNU (First name unknown) when someone doesn’t have a first name and LNU (last name unknown) if they don’t have a last name.

I worked for the vital records dept for a short term where we would re-issue birth certificates. Anyways someone went through the court system and paid like the $500 fee to legally change their name from "first last" to one name, which on the court document was written in as last name only. His application was denied because he couldn't just have a last name on a legal document.

Was the birth certificate the original one that was issued soon after his DOB? I want to say his parents was supposed to follow up and have a first name "issued" after a certain amount of time.

It was a recent certified copy. He was born in the 50s and he has 9 siblings.. he basically said his parents forgot to do the paperwork. He does have a name he uses which is what he thought his name was his whole life...well up until he tried getting a real ID with his birth certificate..and all of a sudden WTF...

not sure what docs he used for his original ID/DL long ago. maybe it was his birth certificate but the DMV put his "alias" on his ID/DL for all these years, but in the real ID world that doesn't fly anymore I guess.

I've had a couple of folks in the rural areas of CA with just letter names. In one case his first and middle name was "O" "K" and last name. That all I inputted into the system. No apparent issue. Wasn't kicked back.

That's better than blank as a first name which doesn't work at all (required field)
