Yes but you have to have the dmv extension and the memo is only good thru 7/31/2020

Do you need to order the dmv extension paper copy? The dmv website says that extension is automatic and you don’t have to do anything.

I went to Turners in Signal Hill and they said I can’t buy any ammo. Said I will get denied even with the extension.

It's not necessary. The DOJ advisory states that the dealer should make a copy of the extension IF it is provided. We've been keeping a copy of the bulletin with each record in lieu of it.

It is recommend that dealers retain copies of the expired driver license or identification card and, if provided, the DMV extension letter with the DROS records.
All other requirements such as a non-FLA ID still apply. You currently have until 7/31/20 to use your expired DL for this purpose assuming that it is not a commercial DL or a ID type, which would be a no-go now.

We have not yet received any notice of extension to this order.

Turned down by Big 5 just now. They won’t do it.

                Hey, quick advice
Go on line at DMV and fill out the pre list of items and upload. Get the Special number form when completed. Make sure to bring your original documents when you go to DMV. Then when you go to DMV in person the person at the door will fast track you. I went about 2 weeks ago, and was complete and out the door in 35 minutes.

As a bonus, because of Covid, no written or vision testing.

I was shocked and obtained my new license in less than 7 days.
May I always be the type of person my dog thinks I am

Good lesson (for you). Maybe you'll learn to think ahead.

Yeah, we all just knew this Covid thing was going to happen 6 months ago. How about we be kind to each other?

The renewal notice from DMV comes about 2 months ahead. OP is just now realizing he has something to do?

Granted I did lag a bit. I got the renewal notice back in March or April. But at the time, I was still working from the office, then shortly after, the stay at home order, followed by dmv closures. All happened pretty quick. Once dmv opened again, there is no scheduled appointments and you need to be there at 5am to try to get a spot.

It’s a complete cluster. I really don’t need to buy ammo, was really just looking to get a box for the range so I didn’t have to use my range stache at the house lol.

Rich, if you buy ammo at a range to use at the range you're shooting at, you're exempt from needing to do background checks. It's only when you take ammo home that you need to go through backgrounds.
