    Non-Roster Handgun

Well it finally happened to me. I received a new non roster handgun in the mail for someone who did not contact me ahead of time about receiving a firearm for them. I know what to do but not looking forward to the call

"Mr Smith, I regret to inform you that you need to pay me to mail this back to the store you bought it from."

I know its their fault, but I've been surprised with all these new gun buyers now in the market how many of them are unaware of the DOJ Roster. Maybe if there were aware they'd vote the Bass-Tards out!

Ya, I've asked him if he's exempt. I have not heard back yet. I really want to help the guy, we were all newbies once and heaven knows we need new gun owners.

I was hoping the seller would do just that. I'm willing to do the mailing and paperwork at no cost if that happens. Maybe a future customer...

You might just advise him that his gun has arrived and once he's in-house at least he can't hang up on you never to be seen again.

You've been lucky.. we get off roster stuff from private parties all the time either direct or from a shipping FFL. Most of the time the buyer has to pay us to ship it back.

If it comes from a Buds or big retailer our experience has been what you mentioned (they ship a label etc..) -- ultimately, I don't know if it's at their expense or if they take it out of the customers refund or not.

Ask the buyer if he likes to work for free. When he says no. Then tell him neither do you.

                    LOL

I did get a return shipping label. I spent my time boxing it and dropping at Fed Ex. I should have charged him something for that but just wanted it gone and FedEx was on the way.

Yeah I especially love it when I have to stop my day and drive to Baldwin Park to the UPS hub because somebody sends us a no-no rifle. We should charge a $200 PITA fee.

I've had to explain to at least 3 people last week why their USA made Glock 19 purchase from GB was not on the roster. Sigh...

Hopefully you've documented and are collecting storage fees.
