RAW Preban Norinco 84s transfer ?

    I have a question .

My uncle has a registered assault Norinco 84s. He's willing to give it to me .

These Chinese AK always is my dream . But I'm not going to risk law issues with it.

I'm willing to commuforniazise it . Flash hider , grip fin whatever

It's California RAW it's already here I think he got it before 1990.

Is there a way to properly transfer and register this to my name ?

Not taking the mags for sure . I'm a law abiding citizen

If it is banned by name then it cannot be deregistered unless it leaves California permanently. Banned by name guns cannot be cleansed by being made featureless. What are the exact manufacture and model marks on the receiver?

"It's California RAW it's already here I think he got it before 1990."

If I'm reading this correctly, you're saying it is as "registered assault weapon" in CA??!!
And, if that's the case, it's your uncle's forever....
By law he may not transfer it in this state and anyone who possesses it other than your uncle is committing a felony.
And there are additional stipulations beyond that.

Though the flowchart at the top of this site is outdated, the list of rifles that are designated assault weapons because of their make and model is still accurate.

Penal Code section 30510 still says:
            (a) All of the following specified rifles:
            (1) All AK series including, but not limited to, the models identified as follows:
            (A) Made in China AK, AKM, AKS, AK47, AK47S, 56, 56S, 84S, and 86S.
            (B) Norinco 56, 56S, 84S, and 86S.

Since it is an assault weapon by name, there is no possible way to "de-register" it; it will always be an assault weapon. That means it can only be transferred as an assault weapon.

Yep. He did registered it before the deadline. Totally legal for him to keep and use .

Wow. The law is so BS. I mean this one is gonna be my collector item and it's not any better than the new stuff. Come on this thing is older than me .
And I even can't get it from my family . GOOD JOB ANTI GUN COCKSUCKERS.

One more simple question. I'm going with him to the range soon. Do you think he can buy ammo ? I found this :
You must have purchased a handgun after 1 Jan 1990 or a long
gun after 1 Jan 2014 at the address on your Drivers License or
Military ID. If not but you do own a firearm go to this web page
                  and update your personal information

He didn't buy anything after 1990 . But he does have that RAW in his name. Can he buy ammo ?
