    Post Office Question- Potentially Hazardous

Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

    31 Definition

A hazardous material is any article or substance designated by the U.S. Department of Transportation as being capable of posing an unreasonable risk to health, safety, or property during transportation. In international commerce, hazardous materials are known as “dangerous goods.” For definitions of other terms that relate to hazardous materials, see Appendix D.

I would say NO. That is for stuff that might leak, catch fire, burn or poison someone, that kind of thing. As long as you are not shipping live ammo with the gun, it is just plastic and metal parts. so NO. The YES is just for things that can harm someone transporting the package. If I was mailing acid or a stick of sodium or something like that I would say Yes.

I got the same from my local PO and had to show them chapter and verse. That woke them up.

That is an interesting interpretation of "hazardous material". Under that definition a pencil could be hazardous if you stick it in your eye.

Its always an adventure shipping a firearm when you encounter a new clerk.
