    Beretta M1951 Curio & Relic?

MGE selling these for pretty cheap now. Here is the description on their website:

Beretta M1951 9MM surplus Beretta (italy) surplus G-VG 1X8 rd mag Un boxed Surplus firearm

I have never sold C&R handguns before. I did some research and find this link that lists this handgun as a C&R:

Here is a description of the handgun in the ATF link:

Beretta, Model 1951 pistol, Israeli Contract, cal. 9mm Parabellum.

Based on my research - I believe I, as a FFL01, can purchase these from my distributor for resale, as they are roster exempt. Can anybody chime in with some experience here?

    Thanks!

    Beretta M1951 Curio & Relic?

They are not roster exempt unless you can PROVE that they were part of that specific contract or you can prove date of manufacture. My understanding is that there are no good records for most of the M1951s. Check out the description on https://www.classicfirearms.com/bere...-surplus-g-vg/:

"Although the Beretta M1951 was produced from 1953 to 1980, we have no way of verifying the manufacturer date range on these and as such none can be sold directly to C & R. FFL Required."

Usually you can tell by looking at the proof mark on the Beretta. If it has a proof mark XXV or lower then it means it was proofed in 1969 or before and would be a C&R. Each pistol would have to be examined to determine the proof mark and I think that most sellers won't do this and therefore will not sell it as a C&R. You can look it up on internet or if you have the Beretta Book you can see it there.

The Israel contract models will have the Star marking. No star, not Israeli.

I thought about these when Classic had them. They are not Israeli, they are Italian Navy so they are not automatically C&R.

I considered buying a few and seeing if I could date them. Sell the 1970 and older locally, list the 1971 and newer on GB for an out of state sale. Be hard to make a profit on any out of state sales though as anyone could buy them direct from Classic. I decided it wasn't worth the effort or the risk. Now that Classic is sold out ???

I bought one from Classic last year. Shipped to FFL and DROS done - no problems. Roman numerals showed C&R. Good shooter.
