    Campfire Permit

Anyone see a reason this doesn't satisfy both federal/state requirements?

It appears to be a government document with a period of validity.

Seems like it’s a third party doing it not a government site. I dunno tho without actually trying to get one. And I’m not. So not much to help you. Sorry

Do you know if the website listed is a 3rd party site or actually part of calfire? It's so "good" at looking like a calfire site I would have thought if it wasn't really they would have been forced to take it down. All the link about terms of use, etc.. point back to the CA .gov websites.

Are you aware if Cal Fire lists that website anywhere as an official method to get the permit?

My father-in-law used the campfire permit to satisfy and purchase a rifle.

My first clue UG was it’s a dot org website not a dot gov.

I get that.., but on this .org page: https://californiacensus.org/

The disclaimer page makes it pretty clear they are not .gov
                https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/sequo...fsbdev3_059516
Where can I obtain a permit? - Any Forest Service office, CAL FIRE office, or Bureau of Land Management office, or online at https://www.readyforwildfire.org/per...mpfire-permit/
So either .gov is endorsing the 3rd party site or it actually is theirs.. and maybe due to budget/project stuff is how it ended up with a person owning the domain (vs the agency) and why it's .org instead of .gov.. maybe the bureaucracy to get a new domain in .gov is a PITA (I would imagine..)

If the permit that prints out has some official seal on it then I would probably take it. Example: Hunting licenses are sometimes issued from a non government place, like big 5. But they do print the official government document there. So IDK on the permit. If it looks official, I would say use it.

Thats not what he was asking...He's an FFL asking if this will satisfy CA proof of residency requirement as well as being a government document because his customers ID does not have his current physical address on his DL.

UG. Here is another example AAA does DMV work on behalf of the DMV, and although they are not a government entity they are producing official government documents on DMV letterhead with the DMV seal on it.

What would be the incentive for someone to create a FREE fake fire permit site?

If you are worried about it I'm sure a call to Cal Fire would answer your question.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

Good point.. I had a customer wanting to use the doc and it looked pretty official. Here's an image of it:

That issued by group looks like this .gov:
