Completing transfer after DROS denial

My DROS was denied in March, and I'm wondering if anyone can share how to complete the transaction once I get the denial cleared up.

In March I bought a handgun and had it transferred through my my LGS. On pick-up day I got notice of my denial on my DROS. Six years ago someone used my name and birthday on their felony conviction. I found out 9 months later and got the judge to issue an order that my name/birthday be removed from all records (Sherriff, Court and DOJ). I thought I had it all cleared up.

For the current DROS denial, I was able to submit my fingerprints to the DOJ. That confirmed: The same felony is still on my record. (It said there was no fingerprint match, only a Name match.) This weekend I sent off the correction form to the DOJ with the court order.

So my question is when my record gets corrected:
1) Should I expect the original DROS to change from Denied to Approved with new dates, or
2) Should I expect to have to submit a new DROS

It's a weird situation, but would be interested to hear any advice or experiences that you all could share.

About 6 weeks in, I applied for a COE. (I thought the fingerprint based application would come back clean.)

Any benefit to having a COE on my second DROS (is there a place in the tool put a COE # or reference)?

Yes there is a spot for COE on firearms DROS. If the 'waiting period exemption type' is COLLECTOR, it will require the COE# to be entered.

It also may show up even if the 'transaction type' is Curio & Relic, and a 30 day exemption is being claimed. In short, anytime a firearms DROS is done and there are exemptions requested that only extend to COE holders, the field for 'COE#" will appear and will need to be populated.

OK good to know about the Collector option to get that COE field up. I wonder if I have to have a FFL 03 from ATF to use it.

I did send in my ATF FFL03 app at the same time I submitted my COE to the California DOJ. My thinking was that my 'name search' from the DROS background check was tainted and might spin in bureaucracy while trying to get it clean up. However, I thought the COE with the fingerprint based background check would come back clean the first time.

So my options will be based on what comes back clean first:
1) Corrected criminal record based on Name only -> then resubmit a new DROS
2) COE/FFL03 approved -> then submit a DROS with the "Collector" option

Thanks for the tip on CCW. I have friends with CCW and think my just-cause statement will work given what they submitted. I'll certainly go that route once once I get my record cleaned up at the DOJ.
