Mail a Firearm for a Customer?

Hello Calgun FFL's! I have a customer that wants to ship a firearm to another FFL dealer in Arizona the only thing is do I put it through aquisitions since its under our name and send a copy of our FFL or send the firearm with all the owners information? Any help would be greatful we've never shipped a firearm that wasn't ours!

Send it with customers info. You are not logging it in.

If you don't log it in you are not conducting business under your license. Bad idea. Every gun in my shop gets logged in and out even if I'm just shipping out 10 minutes later.

According to the BATF, if you immediately ship it, you are not required to log it in and out, which I personally think is a bad idea. I would log ANY firearm which goes through your business, no matter how short of a period of time you have it.

You need to get a copy of the receiver's FFL prior to sending it and it is a good idea to confirm their status using the BATF ezcheck website. You should include your information, as well as who it is coming from and who it is going to and it is helpful to also have the firearm information in case the letter gets separated from the firearm. You are not required to give a copy of your FFL, but it is common and some FFLs get bent out of shape if they don't receive a copy.
