    FSC info mismatch

I tried to run a DROS today and I got an error showing that there was an FSC mismatch. Upon closer examination, his name was misspelled on his FSC. But he said that he had no problem doing transfers from last year to a few months back.

I had to give him a test to issue him a new FSC and the DROS cleared with that.

Did CA tighten their DROS to FSC check any time recently?

Its been this way for awhile. The FSC instructor can make the correction but if they are no longer at the shop they are SOL.

    Most common issue is suffix.

    When issuing FSC's
It asks for First, Middle, Last
So many dealers would input JR/SR/IIV/ect in the last name.

    This will cause a mismatch.

        They did. July 1, 2019.

Prior to that they did not cross reference FSC data.

I scan the driver's license. This way the info goes into the system exactly the way the DMV has the records. I have seen many times names misspelled, birthdate wrong, etc. It's just easier to scan the driver's license.

Sure, until it comes out looking like this $Ton#*$ CREEK ARMS. I've seen that more often than not.

Haha! Yup, I've seen that too. Just remove the weird symbols. Works every time for me. Better than fat finger typing!

I've also noticed on older ID's where customers have changed their address with the DMV it still magnetically swipes as their older address too. So double check that always. Mine used to even when I KNOW I went to the DMV changed the address and watched her key it in so I could get the printout to verify it had been done correctly.
