FFL applicant, when is secure facility required?

when applying for an FFL (01, or 07, still deciding, while I jump through local government hoops) when is the "secure facility" requirement assessed?

Do I have to meet all the requirements with regard to California walls (cement, or metal mesh) security system, bars on windows, etc, before they will grant the license, and then just hope it gets approved, or do I get the FFL, and then do the required improvements to the building?

The ATF agent will make an appointment to come out to your facility to assess before they will issue your FFL. My agent wanted all my local paperwork present before he would make an appointment.

Your greatest hurdles will be your local sales license and permitting.

Make sure you have your police, zoning and construction permits all lined up before you even think of applying. The ATF is a cakewalk compared to those.

Thanks, guys, I truly appreciate it. Are you saying the ATF will want to see construction permits, like for interior walls and such?

The ATF will want to see your finished facility and all paperwork that shows the city is happy with you selling firearms.
