    Restraining Order process

I have read the threads that come up with a search for how to deal with a restraining order. Is there anyone who has done these enough to feel confident to write me primer on it?

I have been asked to store firearms for a customer who was just served with a restraining order. I would like to know exactly what I need to do. What paperwork I must have/fill out and the return process. I am not worried about the storage fee/abandoned part, that seems clear, I mainly need the legal side to stay righteous.

It might be worth adding it to the main FFL sticky also so others do not need to try and piecemeal the complete process from disparate threads.

Thanks in advance if someone is game!

There is a BOF form you have to fill out and send to the DOJ. I would also suggest some sort of simple contract between you and him outlining the details of the arrangement. Fees, time frame, etc....I've done these for 3 customers in the past. They're not that hard to do.

EDIT: It's BOF from 992. And upon pick up you can use FSC exemption Firearm being returned to owner, and run them as exempt transfers if the handguns are off list and the transfers are 1 in 30 exempt. I noted in the comments on the DROS Firearms being returned to owner from temporary storage of firearms for prohibited person.

So for a temporary restraining order I have to fill out a 992, I called DOJ to ask, got a message to email them and they will call me, still waiting. How would I know to fill out a 992 beyond the CH-800 I filled out for the court? What are my time constraints? Thank you for the response! (This is for a really good customer or I would not be doing this!)

Also, I did a not so simple contract that covers pretty much everything, but figure better safe than sorry.
