1-30 start date ? FAQ: time and date DROS submitted

The 30 days start when the DROS is entered. This also makes it easy to know when you can buy again because your DROS paperwork will the list the date and time you must pickup by. The second after that last pickup date and time is when 30 days are over and you can start another DROS.

Have you tested this? I hate to tell a customer he can start his dros on another pistol in 30 days and eat $37.19 when it comes back denied.

Look at the actual CA PC, it says that you can't submit a DROS for a handgun more than 1 in 30. No mention of pickup.

720 hours, to the second, of when the DROS was entered - is when the 30 day clock expires.

And as noted above, it does not matter if a gun is delivered. The clock starts upon application. People who try to beat the clock, or lose track of the calendar or even daylight savings time, have found this out the hard way and can end up going 60 days between purchases. Because even if you are denied (like say for a 1-in-30 violation), and you get no gun, you are still on the clock for 30 days after your most recent application.

The one handgun every thirty days makes no sense and only logical in a politicians mind; it is confusing and you have to pay close attention when you can buy your next handgun or it becomes an issue. But we live in CA, so most things here make zero sense to include gun sales and high taxes

Legally it should be from the start date/time. However, I would caution right now that the customer MIGHT (I have no proof other than DOJ incompetence) be rejected due to the LAST DELIVERY DATE/TIME on the DROS.

Why? Because for some customers on long delays right now (10+ day approval) the LAST DELIVERY DATE/TIME is > 30 days from the DROS start.

Example:
TRANSACTION DATE/TIME: 04/10/2020 04: 40: 46 PM
EARLIEST DELIVERY DATE/TIME: 04/28/2020 08: 56: 10 AM
LATEST DELIVERY DATE/TIME: 05/28/2020 08: 56: 10 AM

I've been telling customers to tell me if they want to do the PC legal 30 days+ to start next DROS or to use LATEST DELIVERY DATE/TIME.

Since that's what's in a computer I have to wonder if it's grounds for "auto reject" by the agent reviewing. Odds are they do NOT count the days and probably just use that date to see if you're within the 1-30 days. I let the customers know if DOJ incorrectly rejects them I can appeal, but they will still lose their DROS fee and have to re-do paperwork AND the 1-30 days will reset to that date. I already have 1 appeal for an incorrectly rejected interstate intrafamilial transfer going on 4 weeks with no response.

Most are electing to use the LATEST DELIVERY DATE/TIME to alleviate that risk.

Regarding my recent rejection I asked them what was wrong and they told me. I sent them screenshots and they said "oops you did it right" so I asked them to reverse the rejection. And here I am 4 weeks later waiting for a supervisor.

At this point my customer elected to re-submit with his 1-30 exemption again to see what will happen and hopefully they process it correctly this time.
