NO there isn't.

Covid crap, social distancing, and DOJ jerk off with "PENDING" lie. Has many/most FFLs working as appointment only.

Your FFL already has your gun. So room in safe excuse is not viable. So likely they just don't have time to deal with it right now.

Suggest you contact FFL and ask for appointment.

There is no limit in law or from DOJ. But there is a practical limit during these times, and right now the DOJ is backed up and thus so are the FFLs.

I advise maximum patience. This is a very bad time to be acquiring a gun in CA.

I emailed jist now to get an update based on these responses. Fingers crossed.

I am definitely going to excercise an added level of patience given the circumstances. But it's helpful to hear there is no legal limit. That's frames expectations.

Maybe I am mistaken, but the application process requires filling out an application with information that I provide. It's really a 15-20min process based on past experiences and that doesnt change now, right?

If I dont get into the queue of back-logged apps now...its just going to be even longer...of a wait (back of the line).

Assuming you have all your required documents in order and you have someone assigned to you to perform the DROS, it is usually 15 - 30 mins depending on the FFL and their procedures. But right now there can be a wait to even get in the door.

And then when you have to go back for pickup, repeat the whole process. If the store is short on staff qualified to perform DROS, that will also limit their bandwidth.

I waited in a line for an hour or more outside one last week just to get in and do a PPT, because they were limiting the number of people in the store. And I had to beg them to even do the PPT because they are not processing them now.

I would also not be surprised to hear that dealer transfers like yours are also being placed on the back burner. There are a ton of new buyers and the conditions FFLs have to operate in now severely limit the number of transactions they can do per day, and most are dedicating their bandwidth to customers who are buying from them.
