We got one of the more unusual inquiries today. A peace officer inquired about being the buyer in a PPT and asked if he could use a peace officer 10-day exempt letter.
Even if we were allowed to, how would we even do this? We can't use peace officer transaction because we need to record the seller. We can't use PPT because it won't allow immediate deliver. Is this one of this "call DOJ to release" transactions like the FFL03+COE transactions?
I understand that the intent of the exemption was to allow for "duty" weapons to be acquired, and it's apparent that majority of the acquisitions aren't used for duty but that doesn't necessarily mean that it's forbidden. Only that DES doesn't support the specific transaction type.
