So I recently came across this company called Pendleton Ammunition that does professional load development for people who want to get high quality ammo for their rifles without the hassle of load development. People can send in their rifles and Pendleton will work up a load, maybe suggest some gunsmithing and or upgrades to the rifle, and record ballistic data at 100 yards. Then they send back your rifle with at least a hundred rounds(minimum purchase) and DOPE for your taylor made loads.
First question: is this the kind of thing that could be done on a more local level instead of having people ship their guns across the country? In other words would it be worthwhile to offer this service out of a gun store?
Second question: If the answer to the first question is more or less yes, would it be too cost prohibitive or otherwise a pain in the butt to offer this service in the People's Republik of Kalifornia considering all our wonderful new ammo laws?
I appreciate any thoughts on this this subject. It seems like it would be a pretty sweet job to be a professional hand loader....
