    50+ Bolt action 12 Gauge / Questions

    Hi All,

I have had an offer to acquire a 12 gauge bolt action. It is over 50 years old (A Sears Gun) but it does not have a serial number.

Could you please advise if I can purchase it, without violating CA or Fed law. Your assistance is much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    DG

Yes you can buy it. PPT like any other firearm.
Never initiate force against another. That should be the underlying principle of your life. But should someone do violence to you, retaliate without hesitation, without reservation, without quarter, until you are sure that he will never wish to harm - or never be capable of harming - you or yours again.

No serial number required prior to 1968. Buy that clunker hope it is less than 50 bucks.

If it is a mauser conversion, don't shoot it. They're very unsafe.
i have both Mauser and a couple of other 12, 16, and .410 bolt action shotguns. The Mossbergs are fun once in a while, though clunky and not very good for much, or at all valuable.

Thank you all for the advice. Even if it is not safe, I still want to break my cherry.

LOL, been through this so many times !!!! The first firearm I ever had was a JC Higgins bolt action 16ga that was given to me by my grandfather, the beginning of the curse !!! I have and still do collect them, dozens of them. Never had a problem getting through the DROS, it is comical watching some FFLs figure it out but they all do, even Turners has done about 10 for me !
Oh no, not another 1911 !
