Shipping a long gun within CA

If I ship a long gun to an FFL within CA, is the buyer required to pay sales tax?
I am not an FFL and won't be collecting sales tax.
I'd prefer to do it as a ppt, but the distance the buyer would have to drive (twice) might kill the deal.
    Thanks.

Is it an occasional sale, not from a business and the FFL has no involvement in finding the buyer or seller and no involvement in the price? If so, there shouldn't be sales tax, but you need to make sure that the transfer dealer understands that and/or is willing to contact the CDTFA (formerly the BOE).

Oh, you could drive once to do it as a CA PPT.

Oh, you could drive once to do it as a CA PPT. Round trip and paperwork would take 3.5 - 4 hours, not interested in that.
My comments added in bold. Thanks for your help.
