Semi M2HB in California

Does anyone know how to properly receive a semi M2HB in CA?

Surely someone has already done this?

I don't want it known as a "rifle", as it not a "rifle" by definition.

The choices are handgun, rifle, shotgun. Yes, I can do receiver only, but it still has to be one of those 3.

The Federal form 4473 has the "other" box to check. We do not see a problem there.

That appears to be a false dichotomy. From a legal standpoint, I would not check either box since the state form is wrong. ....but I am a manufacturer, not a dealer. It is something that the state should fix.

I think alot of shops transfer them in as receivers for simplicity sake. What needs to be done is to have an other field added to dros entry and all other forms.

Rifles require a shoulder stock by definition.

Unfortunately California does not have the option of "other" for their paperwork (DROS). Receiver is your best bet to identify it as not being shoulder fired, marked as other on the 4473. Call DOJ and complain they do not have an option for "other". Might wanna also contact Riflegear, I believe they are on of the few transferring M2's.

I ran into this conundrum with a Furr Arms 1874 Gatling Gun. Its not a pistol or rifle, but since it has 12" barrels (ten of them) and no shoulder stock, I ran it as a single action revolver.

No, I am not an FFL. I did have one back in the 80's.

The dealer printed that out for me to show me what the options were on the form. Should we not be using this form or ?
