LEO are exempt from the roster, but IIRC not exempt from 1 in 30.

If I recall correctly there was a big conundrum when Glock started releasing models after the Gen 3. The first instance was when the Glock 21SF ambi safety + picatinny rail was released. A few were released in CA before DOJ decided that it was a no go and went as far as to issue a recall letter coercing people to turn in their mis-drosed models. Then the Gen 4 came out and a state of confusion ensued in 2010. For a while no one could determine if it was considered a "design change" as far as the roster.

At this time CA DOJ made an arbitrary and capricious decision to ban all gen 4s and in their mind, at some semblance of logical consistency, prohibit all USA made frames which I believe appeared at the same time.

Honestly a knee jerk reaction and probably would have been a non-issue had it (USA frames) not appeared the same time as the Gen 4.

CA DOJ considers Glock Inc. (USA) to be a different manufacturer than Glock Ges.m.b.H. (Austria).

So, the Roster listings only applies to Glock Gesmbh (Austria) and not Glock Inc (USA).

Glock was told that for the Glock Inc (USA) made pistols to be listed they would need to have chamber load indicators, magazine disconnect mechanisms, and microstamping arrays.

Leo is 1 in 30 exempt. PPTs are roster exempt and 1-30 exempt. So my question is if you are exempt from the roster for a transfer how can you NOT also be 1-30 exempt too.

Of course - LE and Hollywood are always exempt, from everything. Not sure what I was thinking...

I think the point of my question was missed. I was more asking is there ANY scenario I haven't thought of where a transfer can be roster exempt and still have the 1 in 30 apply?

No you were right on point, your question didn’t get by me and like you I cannot think of any scenario. Before, I didn’t realize LE was 1/30 exempt. Now that you have pointed out they are, I can’t think of a scenario unless maybe some City of LA b.s.?

EDIT - I guess the guys above found another scenario. So hard to keep up with the maze of laws in this state.

Is the frame stamped "made in the USA"?

If not, it is not a US made pistol. It is manufactured in Austria for the US market.

A quick Google search will show many difference sources that confirm that the "US" serial number prefix was referring only to being imported into the U.S. market and is a practice that was dropped quite some time ago.

Bottom line, unless it is stamped "Made in the USA"...it wasn't.

Photos of the differences can be seen at this link:

"The first Glock pistols imported into the U.S. came with serial numbers beginning with a two letters followed by the typical three numbers and a “US” suffix indicating they were for export to the United States."
