    DIY AK

We've had a few customers call and ask about these: https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/pro...le-m10-762-diy

They are a DIY AK. It appears as these would not meet the OAL since they are apx 28" long and appear to be in a fireable condition. Atlantic has on their website that they are featureless and therefore compliant. Anybody else seen these? We do barreled receivers all the time, but it looks like these ship in a fireable condition. Thoughts?

It isn't a rifle without the stock. Often barreled receivers could in theory be fired.

My local FFL did a transfer for me for one of Atlantic's other Romanian DIY barreled receiver AKs. However, the receiver did not already have a fire control group installed, and their newest M10 DIY one does. At the time, Atlantic said that because there was no FCG and the barreled receiver wasn't fireable, it could be transferred as just a receiver the same way an AR stripped lower would be. My FFL was satisfied with this and did the transfer.

I've always known Atlantic as willing to accommodate requests to make items legal and CA compliant. Perhaps the buyer can request for Atlantic to remove the FCG so that it's no longer fireable.

Elevation and windage adjustable front and rear sights

The Romanian AK47 Rifle M10 rifle is built in the famous Cugir Arms Factory and is one of the oldest Arsenals in Romania. These are built with all NEW high-quality components including Hammer Forged Chrome lined barrels & Forged barrel trunnions. The M10 DIY is great for those who want to start with a solid base rifle but customize the final look and 922 r compliance. You simply need to add a stock set, Muzzle device and 922 r parts of your choice. The rifles do have the original Romanian fire control parts installed! The mag well will accept double stack mags and you may need to lightly file the mag catch to adjust mag fitment. Each rifle has the basic factory finish and will show typical Romanian Military Style parts finish with imperfections. You may desire to refinish the rifle or leave stock. Atlantic Firearms offers a variety of AK-47 Stock sets including side folders that you may want to consider

From Atlantics website. Basically saying all you need to do is add the stock. It has the FCG installed so this this is fireable. Kemasa, do you think this thing passes the smell test as is? To me its not legal since it seems fireable and centerfire semiauto in a configuration that's less than 30"

Look at the law (CA PC 30515 and 17090) and answer a question, is it is rifle?

There isn't a stock yet, so it can't be shouldered and that is required of a rifle. If you say that it is illegal, then consider whether you can take a stock off a rifle and replace it. If you take the stock off, then it might be under 30" and it might be able to be fired, regardless of how bad an idea that might be.

            That's a receiver.

Try shooting two round in a row without a buttstock. It's not semi-automatic.
