Hello FFL Forum. I've searched multiple forums and not found an answer other than from what appears to be non-FFLs arguing what they think the right answer is or should be. I would appreciate any insight you care to provide.
I am considering purchasing a new CZ P-01; the CZ P-01 is on-roster. If I do, I'd subsequently ask CajunGunWorks to perform services on the firearm. I've done this with another CZ I already owned, and know it's fine.
But CGW also offers new pistols for sale with its gunsmithing work already completed - i.e., one may purchase a new pistol that CGW, as the selling FFL, has already performed work on.
To be clear, the sort of work would involve swapping parts (trigger, springs, hammer, etc.) in addition to internal polishing work.
I suspect that given the firearm would not be identical to the tested version that was approved by DOJ and listed on the roster (even though the model is rostered), that this may not an option, but I thought I'd ask the experts. Anyone care to comment?
From the limited back-and-forth I've found (and in which I do not have complete confidence), I am pessimistic that this is doable. Some posters in years back speculate that one could hunt for a CA FFL willing to complete this transaction -- but to be clear I am *not* interested in searching for someone who might put their business and license in jeopardy out of ignorance or bad intent, and I am *not* interested in even brushing up against the law on this in any way (as noted above, I can always just buy a stock P-01 in CA and then ship to CGW; just curious if I can simplify the whole process as that would have some appeal).
(Also just to be clear, if the transaction is otherwise permissible, I'd of course engage a local FFL to handle the dealer transfer, receipt, DROS, waiting period, etc. And given all the hoopla around Duncan, this question has nothing to do with LCMs or related issues)
