Looking for an FFL to do AK reciever transfers

I’ve got a few parts kits I want to put together. I want to use some Childers recievers with a requested serial number, rather than the whole home built reciever route. I stopped by my local gun shop today, and asked them about it. They said they don’t transfer AK Recievers because it’s a gray area. Is this a problem I wasn’t aware of? Is there an FFL in northern LA county that can help me out with this? I know my LGS doesn’t even do C&R transfers.

What's so gray? It's a receiver..not an aw unless you build it up that way...if you were in Bay area I'd do it for you.

I'm in Monrovia, East San Gabriel valley. I can't see any issues with the transfer. It's just a receiver and has no evil features. I will gladly do it.

I'm sure Kermesa will be along soon, maybe he can shed some light if there is a "grey area" I'd like to know the FFL's reasoning.

You would have to ask them as only they can see their delusions. Sorry, but true. A receiver isn't semi-auto nor center-fire. They could be afraid that someone might illegally make it into a so-called a-salt weapon. The same is the case with an AR receiver.

Perhaps because it is different or for other strange unknown reasons or delusions. It is amazing at times what people come up with. Personally, C&R transfers are a bit annoying (not really the proper word) because it is not the normal transfer and so it isn't all the usual things, so you feel like you are forgetting something, but it is just because it isn't required. When the person has a C&R FFL and COE, then there is only the one time to get everything correct, no reviewing everything later and making sure that everything is done correct. No 4473, which is just different than the rest. But the bottom line is that you deal with it because that is how it is done. No doubt some won't understand what I am saying, but the summary is that it just feels wrong because it is different and isn't wrong at all.

Delusions=TRUE. I'm pretty new, I know it and even though I "studied" did allot of reading before I started, I still do something knowledge related everyday. I don't think I will ever stop. I'm kind of a nerd that way. I enjoy trying to learn something new "law" related and figuring outlaw everything "jives" and what's conflicting from one law to the next.

I had a really bad experience with a FFL in another state. It was in person and I was truly amazed at his poor knowledge of federal laws and regulations. During the discussion he reveled allot of down right negligent and unlawful acts he routinely does. He was very anti-CA which is fine but his reasons were all baseless and clearly from a lack of basic understanding and staying up to date on laws and reg.'s

You ain't kidding, I just did a C&R last week, Ive done quite a few. I know I'm doing it right, but I do feel awkward like I'm "breaking the rules" even though I'm not.

Plenty of FFLs will do it. The one you asked is just ignorant on the laws. Or perhaps just the person you spoke with. Either way. Kemasa here is probably one of the closest to you. We are in West Covina, and I'm sure there are plenty in between.
