    Current benefits of 03FFL+COE

    Hi Guys,

Sorry if this has been posted already but what is the current benefits of having an 03FFL license and COE aside from being able to buy C&R firearms online and shipped directly.

    Thanks.

Well, you cant have the firearms shipped directly to you, it has to go to an 01 first. So there's that.

You can however have ammo shipped directly to you. You don't do the 10 day wait or 4473 on C&R firearms. You can acquire firearms out of state while you are there. You can purchase modern pistols and be exempt from the 1 in 30 laws.

Just to be clear. Are you saying that if I visit Nevada and bring proof of 03ffl and Coe I can purchase ON roster guns, c&r or both? Or am I misunderstanding.

You can only acquire C&R handguns and long guns out of state, and you don't even need a COE to do that. But the combo of 03 FFL an COE is the best bang for your buck.

And then you can purchase modern pistols while in CA only without a 1 in 30 limit and you are still limited to buying handguns on the roster or handguns with roster exemptions.

There is a thread covering this in the C&R Forum.

You also get the joy of being open to DOJ inspections.

But why would they bother and how do they justify it if the 03ffl/coe holder never buys or sells a c&r?

I have mine but I have never used the license for anything until the ammo laws came into play.

Do you mean ATF's almost non existent inspection by appointment of ones Bound Book and C&R firearms? CA DOJ has no right to inspect anything.

No, they have to call you and make an appointment. You have the choice of doing the inspection at your home or the local ATF office. All they can inspect is your Bound Bookand C&R firearms. You do not have to let them into your home and the inspections for C&R FFLs are very rare. On the rare chance that you are inspected and don't want to go to a ATF Office, , you can always lay out everything on a table in the backyard and do the inspection there. They do not have the right to enter your home.

I am going on something like 15 years with a 03FFL and have never been inspected. The inspections are very rare.
