    Update on SBR registration

As some may recall, a while back we had some extensive discussion regarding the registration in CA of certain SBR's, more specifically, antique Winchester, lever action, "Trappers".

Some felt that even though they were manufacturedSBR's (15" & 14" barrels) that they were, in fact, not legal in the state of CA even if they carried an ATF clearance as Curio & Relics.

Since I possess one with a ATF clearance I decided to attempt registration by way of BOF Form 961 (Collector In-State Acquisition of Curio or Relic Long Gun Report) which I submitted 12/2017. Yesterday I received a Report of Firearm Ownership Approval from DOJ indicating my SBR had been successfully register as a SBR.

So, there apparently is, though lengthy and time consuming, a process that allows those who acquire C&R, SBR's (in state) to get them registered and therefore, legal to possess.

So, now it is ironic that the State whittles away at the right of its citizens to defend themselves from the possible oppression of their State.
