What to Look for on ID now

I was told by my auditor years ago that the LEO ID needed the words PEACE OFFICER on it to know that the individual was indeed exempt from the roster. With all the new exemptions what do I look for or require? Just because someone shows his DMV employee ID is that enough? DMV ID plus 832 certificate?

Not all exempt LEO ID's are going to say peace officer (Police Officer, Sheriff Deputy, Special Ageny, Ect) I take copies of the front and back (not on federal) per my auditor. Typically the back will say Peace officer per 830.????

Just look it up and make sure they are exempt. Had some thay look like LEO ID but arent peace officer under CA PC.

Example ID said Officer. Back of ID was like Powers to arrest under 830.9

Animal control officers are not peace officers but may exercise the powers of arrest of a peace officer as specified in Section 836

I was told if its not clear to call them or decline.

Yep, We look for arrest powers. Such as I have a customer who is an LA County District attorney investigator who is roster exempt as he is a PC 830 defined peace officer, thus roster exempt and his ID shows PC 830.1 or whatever (I cant remember exactly what his ID shows)
