Renewing RealID and PPT

I have a RealID already, but I am in the process to renew my realID ( expiring in Aug).

I went to local DMV to renew my realID earlier last month, and I was told I needed to re-take written test for the renew, so she scheduled my test in mid-Aug, and punched a hole on my real-ID. ( ofcourse she gave me some paperwork).

for my case, does it mean I can't purchase any firearm and PPT with my ID and I have to wait until I get the new ID?

Hole punch is invalid for DROS.

Also, why did you go back in to renew if you have your Real ID? Once you have your Real ID you can renew by mail going forward.

This is why I got a REAL ID Ca. ID card. No hassling with drivers written test ever for renewal. I will always have a Real ID no matter what the status of my Drivers License.

i Replaced my old ID with New RealID a few months before my drive license expires, so my new RealID still has old expiration date on it.

I am doing that too.., but my point is, once you've replaced and have a new RealID or RealDL there's no reason to go into DMV to renew anymore. They aren't going to scan your documents every year for renewal.

You can renew online or by mail unless I missed something. There's no way they expect everyone with a RealID/DL to come in for renewals for eternity. That would be a massive fail (I guess it's possible).

In the local DMV office, i was told I had to retake written test, and I asked why, she just said it was a rule, but she could tell me where the rule was.

IMO, if employee wanted to fk u up, this was the way .

I see they forced you to come in.. bummer. I think I had to do that only 1 time, but they didn't ask me to retake the written test. Just a new photo and vision test.

If your DL was good till August why did you get a Real ID before August?
