    B&T USW possible to PPT?

I tried doing a PPT with a CA resident that has a B&T USW (Universal Service Weapon), but the FFL denied me saying that it may not be legal to possess in CA and recommended to sell out of state. The current owner removed the barrel threads and does not have the standard capacity magazines. He bought the pistol out of state and relocated to CA for work, avoiding the CA pistol roster.

He and I were a little confused since we both couldn't find a pistol feature that would constitute an AW (PC12276.1(a)(4)(A-D).

Are we both missing something on this firearm? Any insight from an FFL standpoint would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

The FFL was probably concerned about the folding shoulder brace.
I honestly don't know if that is a problem for California.

Thanks for the reply. The pistol does have the capability to attach a folding stock or brace relatively easily, but the specific pistol we tried to PPT is just the pistol itself. Would the stock/brace mount alone be considered an issue with PC12020(a)(1) or 26 U.S.C. 5861?

The mount is not a problem.
As long as the barrel is not threaded, there is no legal issue with that handgun.
        Find a different FFL.

          Thanks for the insight, Cokebottle.

If any FFLs in the LA/OC area are willing to help me PPT, feel free to PM me.

Check with Riflegear in Fountain Valley.
If they won't transfer it, there likely is a problem that we aren't seeing.

We are in the Inland Empire, but as long as those threads are removed we will PPT it. I don't see any problem

                Hey Waygeekierthanu,

I actually just started the DROS at another FFL that PM'd me. I appreciate the offer though and will keep you in mind if I ever need to PPT out in the IE.

                Thanks!
